Economist Predicts Housing Market Rebound - August 14, 2010

Calgary Herald writer Mario Toneguzzi reports on RBC Economics analyst, Robert Hogue's prediction that Alberta home prices are expected to continue rising for the balance of 2010 and 2011.  Hogue believes the current weakening of market conditions does not reflect the current underlying strength of the Alberta economy, "Such weakness amid improving conditions in the provincial economy strikes us as being overdone".

RBC Cuts Fixed Mortgage Rates - August 4, 2010

Great news for Homebuyers (and builders, of course):  The Royal Bank of Canada announced Tuesday that it’s cutting residential mortgage rates effective Thursday.  Rates will be lowered on a number of mortgages, including the bank’s five-year fixed-rate offering, which will be lowered by 0.10 percentage points to 5.59 per cent. The cut comes on the heels of another 10-basispoint cut from RBC last week, which brought five-year rates to 5.69 per cent.  The special five-year closed mortgage rate, meanwhile, fell 10 basis points to 4.19 per cent, after seeing a similar cut last week.

August Home Starts Up Sharply from 2008 - September 10, 2009
